Sightseeing in Bogotà, Colombia

This is our second day in Colombia, and so far it has been great. We really have been enjoying Bogotà. Today we walked all around the city´s central exploring museum and other points of interest. We visited the Police History Museum first, but we didn´t bring the camera. It was very interesting! They had many things from Pablo Escobar including the bloody roof tile where he was shot!
Here I am on the Mirador Torre Copatria, which is the tallest building in Bogotà at 48 stories.

Looking down from the roof of the building at a cool hotel.

The east side of city is lined by these beautiful hills that are covered in huge trees. There is a church we plan to visit on the hill on the left.

This is a close up of the church.

Looking over the south side of the city. It is huge with 7 million people!

We could see the bull fighting arena from the top of the roof. The season is usually in January and February I believe.

We visited the Museo de Arte Moderno, which just happened to have some pretty famous pieces in it this month including ¨The Thinker¨. It was cool that we got to see Rodin´s most famous work in person.

After the modern art museum, we went to the Museo de Oro (Museum of Gold), which usually houses over 34,000 pieces. The building was being remodeled though, and only a selected few were being shown in a different building. This was one of the neat, detailed pieces.

A chief´s headdress.

Another interesting piece.

A breast plate, we believe. It was supposed to depict the chief and his loin cloth that looked like a tail.
A piece of ceramic that looked pretty neat.

WOW! So cool! Was Bogota like full of pickpoketing? That is where Alex's family is from! Looks like you two are having a nice little winddown. Fun!
